First-base umpire and crew chief Jerry Meals originally ruled the play a foul ball out of play, but Dodgers manager Don Mattingly challenged the call and it was overturned by a replay official for the third out of the inning on fan interference.

Official Rules （公式規則）では 3.16に規定されています。

APPROVED RULING: If spectator interference clearly prevents a fielder from catching a fly ball, the umpire shall declare the batter out.

観客の妨害により野手がフライを捕れなかったことが明らかであれば、審判はバッターにアウトを宣告するものとする。
